THE QENDO PARTNERSHIP

There for someone?
Have someone
there for you.

Build on our QENDO partnership: research outcomes for men supporting a loved one with endometriosis or pelvic pain, train more existing mentors and reach men who could benefit.

IN PARTNERSHIP WITH

QENDO

SUPPORT FOR THE MAN WHO SUPPORTS SOMEONE ELSE

A space for
his experience, too.

A partner, father or family member can be a steady source of support for someone living with endometriosis or persistent pelvic pain. He may also need space to talk about his own experience.

Through our partnership with QENDO, men can access free, one-to-one life mentoring with a volunteer who has undertaken additional preparation for this context.

The partnership and specialist training are already developed. Funding would help us extend that preparation to more existing MM mentors, connect more men with the service and build evidence about its outcomes.

THREE CONNECTED FUNDING NEEDS

Learn what helps.
Prepare more mentors.
Reach more men.

01

Research the outcomes

Develop an outcomes study with a research partner to understand the experience and effects of mentoring for men supporting others. Fund the methodology, participant follow-up, analysis and MM’s internal capacity to support the work.

02

Extend specialist training

Enable more existing MM mentors to complete the additional QENDO-related training already developed. Fund delivery, learning coordination, ongoing support and the capacity to apply that preparation in mentoring relationships.

03

Help the right men find it

Run a targeted awareness and referral campaign with QENDO to reach men who could benefit. Make the offer clear, show how to take the first step and support enquiries through to an appropriate mentoring match.

THE OUTCOMES RESEARCH

What changes when
the supporter
has support?

We want to understand whether and how mentorship helps men in a supporting role, and what makes it useful to them.

A research partner would help define the questions, measures, follow-up and methodology. Areas to explore could include connection, wellbeing, confidence in seeking support and the experience of balancing one’s own needs with supporting a loved one.

Participant voices would help explain what feels relevant, what is missing and how the mentor’s additional preparation contributes. Any research into effects on relationships or the person being supported would need a suitable design and consent.

The findings would inform mentor preparation, matching, service delivery and future evaluation. These are questions to investigate; the outcomes are not yet established for this programme.

TRAINING THAT IS READY TO REACH FURTHER

Build on what
we have developed.

QENDO brings knowledge of endometriosis and pelvic pain and the experiences of those affected. MM brings its established mentoring model, trained volunteers, matching and ongoing support.

The next training step is to equip more of our existing mentors with the additional preparation developed through the partnership. Delivery and support capacity would grow alongside the number of men seeking a mentor.

The work remains life mentoring. Mentors listen and support reflection within their role; they do not provide medical advice, treatment or relationship therapy.

A CAMPAIGN THAT LEADS TO SUPPORT

Make the offer
easy to recognise.
Make the next step clear.

The campaign would speak directly to men supporting a loved one, including those who may not describe themselves as carers.

Work with QENDO on clear, relevant messages and referral information. Explain who the programme is for, what mentoring offers and how a man can make contact when he is ready.

Track the path from awareness to enquiries, suitable applications and mentoring relationships. Coordinate campaign activity with trained-mentor capacity, and use feedback to improve the experience.

AN EXISTING PARTNERSHIP, A FOCUSED NEXT STEP

Turn greater reach
into useful learning.

Agree a funded plan for research, training delivery and campaign activity, with responsibilities, delivery capacity and reporting set together.

The partnership is established. The research partner, study design, ethics requirements, campaign scope and funding milestones would be agreed for this next stage.
