You don’t have to work it all out alone.
Life can get messy. Mentoring gives you a steady person to talk things through with, without judgement or an agenda.
Why get a mentor?
A mentor can be a sounding board when your thoughts are all over the place. A conversation can help you feel less alone, clear your head, find direction and build confidence. It is not about fixing you; it is about walking alongside you while you work out what comes next.
What mentoring looks like
It is one man talking with another. A trained male mentor listens, asks questions and offers another perspective. Catch-ups can be in person, over a walk or coffee, by phone or online, depending on what works for both of you.
There are no scripts and no pressure to share everything straight away. Your mentor is there to listen, not to make decisions for you.
Who it is for
Mentoring Men supports men aged 18 and over who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, uncertain or flat; going through a life change; or wanting space to think with someone outside their usual circle. It is for men open to reflection and regular conversations with a mentor.
When another kind of support is needed
Mentoring is not a crisis service and is not a substitute for clinical, psychiatric or medical care. Mentoring is not suited to men in acute crisis or at immediate risk of harm. If that is where things are, seek emergency or specialist support; the team can help identify a more suitable service when it is safe to do so.
What to expect
- Apply online. Tell us a little about yourself and what you hope to get from mentoring.
- Talk with the team. The current service page describes an intake conversation to understand your needs and check that mentoring is a suitable fit.
- Find a match. A match considers shared experience, your goals and how you prefer to connect.
- Build the relationship. Mentoring grows through regular conversations over time.
